- Salamanca is a large province with its population concentrated in the capital, and the roads fan out from it: the A-62 to Ciudad Rodrigo, the A-66 to Guijuelo and Béjar, the A-50 to Peñaranda. There is hardly any direct transport between the market towns, so the most common internal trips are from the villages into Salamanca: hospital, station, university and errands.
