Taxi & private hire in Béjar
Looking for a taxi in Béjar, or a car like Uber, Cabify or Bolt: here you book a Spanish private hire (VTC) with advance booking and a fixed price. We do not pick up street hails or wait at ranks.
Béjar and Candelario sit at the foot of the sierra, on the A-66 between Salamanca and Cáceres. In winter the work is ski runs up to La Covatilla with chains fitted; the rest of the year it is connections to Salamanca and business trips to the Guijuelo meat industry.

Béjar and Sierra de Béjar
Béjar, at the southern tip of the province and already in the mountains, was a textile town and is now also the gateway to La Covatilla ski resort. It is far from the capital, so Salamanca's hospital, the railway station or the airport always mean a long trip.
From Béjar to Madrid and Barajas
From Béjar the route runs north on the A-66 to Salamanca, then the A-50 towards Ávila and the AP-6 to Madrid. In winter, snow in the mountains can make early-morning departures harder.
Around the province of Salamanca
Salamanca is a large province with its population concentrated in the capital, and the roads fan out from it: the A-62 to Ciudad Rodrigo, the A-66 to Guijuelo and Béjar, the A-50 to Peñaranda. There is hardly any direct transport between the market towns, so the most common internal trips are from the villages into Salamanca: hospital, station, university and errands.
Busiest times of year
- Start and end of the academic year (September and June): At the start and end of the academic year thousands of students arrive and leave, many from abroad, with luggage and flights from Barajas. In those weeks it is best to book the airport transfer well ahead.
- Salamanca's September fair (September): The Virgen de la Vega festivities fill Salamanca in early September, with concerts, bullfights and a busy nightlife. The centre has road closures and late-night returns to the villages are the most sought after.
- Holy Week in Salamanca (Easter week): The processions wind through the old town and coincide with many visitors and with holiday departures towards Barajas. Streets close as the brotherhoods pass, and the pickup point should be outside the route.
- Carnaval del Toro (February or March, at Carnival): Ciudad Rodrigo holds its bull runs and street bullfights in the main square during Carnival, and the town fills with visitors for several days. It is one of the few times the west of the province draws more people in than it sends out.
- Ski season (winter, depending on snow): When La Covatilla opens, skiers from Salamanca, Madrid and Extremadura head up to Béjar at weekends. The access road may require chains, so it is worth checking the resort's status before setting off.
Tip: If you arrive at the university with several suitcases at the start of the year, say so when booking so the car has enough boot space.

Trips within Béjar
Not within Béjar itself: our partners' VTC authorisations cover intercity transport. We can take you from Béjar anywhere else.

Taxi, Uber, Cabify and Bolt in Béjar

Frequently asked questions
Can you take me within Béjar?
Not within Béjar itself. Our authorisation covers intercity transport and urban trips there are reserved for taxis. We can take you from Béjar to any other town, to the airport or to Madrid.
Is there Uber, Cabify or Bolt in Béjar?
The big apps do not cover Castilla y León the way they cover Madrid. In Béjar the fixed-price option is to book a private hire car in advance. If a local taxi or an app is confirmed in your town, we publish it with a date.
How much is a private transfer from Béjar to Madrid-Barajas?
The transfer from Béjar to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport starts at 322,39 € including VAT, on weekdays during the day. The price is fixed when you confirm.
Do you pick up anywhere in Béjar?
Yes. We pick up at any address in Béjar and also in Guijuelo, Candelario, Puerto de Béjar. Just give us the exact door when you book.
Where do people travel to most from Béjar?
The usual destinations from Béjar are Aeropuerto Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas (from 322,39 €, 152 min); Madrid centro (from 296,57 €, 142 min); Estación Madrid-Chamartín (from 300,01 €, 144 min). We travel anywhere in Spain, always pre-booked.
What is the difference between a private hire car and a taxi?
A Spanish private hire vehicle may only carry out pre-booked services: it cannot pick up passengers in the street or wait at ranks. That is why everything goes through advance booking, with the price fixed before the trip and the service paperwork issued beforehand.
Is there Uber, Cabify or Bolt in Castilla y León?
The big apps do not cover Castilla y León the way they cover Madrid or Barcelona. In most towns in Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora there is no Uber, Cabify or Bolt with the same coverage. That is why we publish, town by town and with a date, what is actually there, and offer pre-booked private hire at a fixed price as an alternative.
Can you take me within my own town?
It depends on the town. A Spanish private hire authorisation covers intercity transport, while urban trips — those starting and ending in the same town — are reserved for taxis unless a licence covers them. Where we can do it, the booking form prices it like any other trip; where we cannot, we tell you straight away and why, before you fill in any details.
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier the better, especially for early flights. For airport transfers we recommend booking the day before; same-day requests depend on availability and always require advance booking.
Do you know the local transport by-law in Béjar?
What can be provided inside a town depends on its by-law and on regional rules, and that is not collected anywhere. If you know where Béjar's is published, whether there is a taxi service or what is allowed, tell us: we check it against the official gazette and adjust the service if appropriate.
