Salamanca has two constant and very different flows: the university one — thirty thousand students arriving and leaving on set dates, many of them via Barajas — and weekend tourism around the Plaza Mayor. Matacán airport has little scheduled traffic, so the flight almost always departs from Madrid, two and a half hours away along the A-50 and A-6.

Beyond that centre the province is large and thinly populated, with market towns far apart — Béjar in the south, Ciudad Rodrigo in the west on the way to Portugal, Peñaranda in the east — and almost every important journey from them goes through the capital first.
The city of Salamanca and Santa Marta de Tormes, across the river and now almost joined to it, make up the province's urban area. The university, the hospital and the station are here, so it is both the starting point for trips to Madrid and the arrival point from the rest of the province.
Alba de Tormes, on the banks of the Tormes south-east of the capital, is known for holding the tomb of Saint Teresa of Ávila in the Carmelite convent, which draws pilgrims and visitors all year round. Its residents rely on Salamanca for the hospital, the station and most errands.
Peñaranda de Bracamonte is the main town of the east of the province, a flat farming area on the border with Ávila. It lies on the A-50, halfway between Salamanca and Ávila, and is one of the few towns in the province that is closer to Madrid than the capital itself.
Béjar, at the southern tip of the province and already in the mountains, was a textile town and is now also the gateway to La Covatilla ski resort. It is far from the capital, so Salamanca's hospital, the railway station or the airport always mean a long trip.
Guijuelo, between Salamanca and Béjar, is known for its Iberian ham industry, with many meat companies and business visitors. That activity creates work trips to the capital and to the station or the airport.
Ciudad Rodrigo, a walled town in the west of the province, is the last main town before the Portuguese border and the centre of a very large cattle-farming area. For the main hospital, specialist care and the train, people go to Salamanca.

A Spanish VTC is a private hire car with driver that may only carry out pre-booked services: it cannot be hailed in the street or wait at a rank. A taxi can. In practice that means with a VTC you know the price, the car and the driver before you leave home, and you cannot flag one down.
Yes. Children measuring 135 centimetres or less must travel in an approved restraint system matched to their height and weight. The exemption the Spanish rules provide for taxis on urban trips is not designed for private hire, so in our services the seat is always fitted, at no extra cost.
You open an account with the company's tax ID and legal name, and from then on bookings need no payment up front: at month end we issue one invoice with a line per trip. The price is the same as for anyone else; what changes is when and how you pay, and that accounting receives one document instead of thirty.
You send the application with your authorisation details, provide the documents that expire —authorisation, insurance, roadworthiness test and registration—, open the payment account and sign the agreement. From then on jobs arrive with the time and price already fixed, and you accept or decline them one by one. No exclusivity, no fees.
A Spanish private hire vehicle may only carry out pre-booked services: it cannot pick up passengers in the street or wait at ranks. That is why everything goes through advance booking, with the price fixed before the trip and the service paperwork issued beforehand.
The big apps do not cover Castilla y León the way they cover Madrid or Barcelona. In most towns in Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora there is no Uber, Cabify or Bolt with the same coverage. That is why we publish, town by town and with a date, what is actually there, and offer pre-booked private hire at a fixed price as an alternative.
It depends on the town. A Spanish private hire authorisation covers intercity transport, while urban trips — those starting and ending in the same town — are reserved for taxis unless a licence covers them. Where we can do it, the booking form prices it like any other trip; where we cannot, we tell you straight away and why, before you fill in any details.
The earlier the better, especially for early flights. For airport transfers we recommend booking the day before; same-day requests depend on availability and always require advance booking.
Yes. The quote includes VAT and is fixed when you confirm. It would only change if you alter the route, add stops or there is a long wait, and you are told before that happens.
If you give us the flight or train number we adjust the pickup to the actual arrival time, and the waiting included at airports and stations is more generous than at an address: the exact minutes are in the terms of service.
Yes. You can pay online when you confirm, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, by card terminal on board, or by bank transfer if you are a company and prefer monthly invoicing.
