Leaving from Campo de Salamanca

The city of Salamanca and Santa Marta de Tormes, across the river and now almost joined to it, make up the province's urban area. The university, the hospital and the station are here, so it is both the starting point for trips to Madrid and the arrival point from the rest of the province.

Which way it goes

From Salamanca, the road to Madrid is the A-50 to Ávila and then the AP-51 and AP-6, which crosses the Guadarrama range through the tunnel; it is a little over two hundred kilometres. For Barajas the route joins the M-40 or M-50 on reaching Madrid. By rail there are direct services to Madrid-Chamartín.

Barajas is the airport for almost every flight from Salamanca province, a little over two hundred kilometres from the capital. No train arrives in time for first-thing flights, and from Béjar or Ciudad Rodrigo departure is earlier still.

When demand peaks

• Start and end of the academic year (September and June): At the start and end of the academic year thousands of students arrive and leave, many from abroad, with luggage and flights from Barajas. In those weeks it is best to book the airport transfer well ahead.
• Holy Week in Salamanca (Easter week): The processions wind through the old town and coincide with many visitors and with holiday departures towards Barajas. Streets close as the brotherhoods pass, and the pickup point should be outside the route.

Tip: To go up to La Covatilla in winter, mention if you are carrying skis or a board, and check the resort is open before booking.

Airport pickup

For arrivals, the driver waits in the terminal with a name sign and helps with your luggage. We track the flight number, so a delay costs nothing extra within the terminal’s complimentary waiting time.

For early flights

We recommend leaving Santa Marta de Tormes at least 192 minutes before you want to be at the check-in desk. We operate through the night, always with an advance booking.
