The A-62 continues north-east through Tordesillas to Valladolid and west to the Portuguese border; the A-66, the Silver Route, goes north to Zamora and south through Béjar towards Plasencia and Cáceres; the A-50 leads to Ávila. There is no direct motorway to Segovia, so the route goes via Ávila.

Ávila lies to the east on the A-50, through Peñaranda de Bracamonte, and is on the way by road to Madrid. It is a trip to visit the city walls and to connect with conventional trains to Madrid.

The city of Ávila, with the Amblés valley below it, holds the hospital, the railway station, public offices and the tourism around the walls. It is where the northern half of the province comes for appointments and paperwork, and the starting point for most transfers to Madrid and Barajas.
