The A-62 continues north-east through Tordesillas to Valladolid and west to the Portuguese border; the A-66, the Silver Route, goes north to Zamora and south through Béjar towards Plasencia and Cáceres; the A-50 leads to Ávila. There is no direct motorway to Segovia, so the route goes via Ávila.

Valladolid is reached from Salamanca along the A-62, via Tordesillas. It is a trip for dealings with the regional government, hospital appointments and connections with Villanubla airport or high-speed trains.

The capital and the towns right next to it, such as Laguna de Duero to the south and Arroyo de la Encomienda to the west, form a single urban area split by the Pisuerga river. Campo Grande station, both university hospitals and the trade fair grounds are here, and this is where most business trips to Madrid start.
